Sen. Rand Paul mocked Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes on her energy chops in rhyme this weekend.
“To the liberals, she sells her soul — the same ones who hate Kentucky coal,” Rand said of Grimes, who has sought to distance herself from President Obama’s carbon pollution regulations on existing power plants.
{mosads}Paul delivered his poem to thousands at Kentucky’s Fancy Farm picnic on Saturday.
“So she flew to L.A. for a Hollywood bash. She came home in a flash with buckets of cash,” Rand said. “To liberals, she whispers: Coal makes you sick. In Kentucky, she claims coal makes us tick.
The battle over the administration’s climate policies, specifically the Environmental Protection Agency’s proposed rule on carbon pollution, has dominated the Kentucky Senate race.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) continues to fight the rules every chance he gets in the Senate, and claims Grimes would vote with Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) every time.
Grimes is against the carbon rules, and claims McConnell is to blame for letting the administration propose the standards in the first place.
