Green group ups spending estimate in midterm push

The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) expects to spend nearly $30 million on the midterm elections, according to a revision of estimates it released in September.

On Friday, the green group said roughly $19 million of that total is being funneled into federal races and $10 million on state races.

In September, the conservation group said initial estimates put its spending at $25 million.

{mosads}In a memo released on Friday, the LCV said it has knocked on more than 1 million doors in Alaska, Colorado, Maine, Michigan and North Carolina.

They have also targeted more than 2 million drop-off voters in states that could determine control of the Senate.

It’s the biggest cycle for the group, and for climate organizations in general, which are spending record amounts to keep and elect pro-environment candidates.
