Union rejects latest offer from Shell in oil workers strike

Negotiations failed to reach a conclusion Thursday evening between the United Steelworkers and Shell.

The Houston Chronicle reports that the walkout staged by workers is in its third week and affects 11 refineries and petrochemical plants in and around Houston. 

{mosads}”We continue to be focused on reaching a mutually satisfactory agreement,” Shell spokesman Ray Fisher said, according to the Chronicle. “We remain committed to maintaining safe operations as part of the normal course of business.”

But the union said the latest offer failed to improve safety in an “enforceable way.”
