Greta Thunberg, the Swedish teen who inspired a massive youth movement to combat climate change, will sail across the Atlantic to bring her message to the Americas.

“I’ll be joining the UN Climate Action Summit in New York, COP25 in Santiago and other events along the way,” Thunberg announced Monday.

“I’ve been offered a ride on the 60ft racing boat Malizia II. We’ll be sailing across the Atlantic Ocean from the UK to NYC in mid August.”

After traveling North America, Thunberg will go to the annual U.N. climate conference (COP25) in Santiago, Chile, between Dec. 2-13.

In a statement, Thunberg’s team said she will be sailing because of the high level of emissions caused by air travel. She will use low-carbon transport options while on the trip.

“During the past year, millions of young people have raised their voice to make world leaders wake up to the climate and ecological emergency,” she said in the statement.

“Over the next months, the events in New York and Santiago de Chile will show if they have listened. Together with many other young people across the Americas and the world, I will be there, even if the journey will be long and challenging.”
