Thunberg changes bio to ‘bunny hugger’ after Boris Johnson uses term

Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg changed her Twitter bio to read simply “bunny hugger” after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson used the term derisively in remarks at the White House Climate Summit earlier Thursday.

Addressing other world leaders Thursday morning, Johnson said it was “vital” for world leaders to demonstrate that efforts to reduce emissions are “not some expensive, politically correct green act of bunny hugging, or however you want to put it.”

Thunberg added the phrase to her bio later in the day.

While the summit took place, Thunberg testified before the House Oversight and Reform Committee’s Subcommittee on the Environment.

“You still have time to do the right thing and to save your legacies, but that window of time is not going to last for long,” she told lawmakers, adding: “I don’t believe for a second that you will actually do this.”

Thunberg has used her Twitter account to troll world leaders at odds with her on climate issues before.

After former President Trump tweeted that she should “work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend” in 2019, she changed her Twitter bio to read “teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.”

More than a year later, after Trump demanded states stop counting votes after Election Day, Thunberg tweeted the then-president’s own words, writing “So ridiculous. Donald must work on his Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Donald, Chill!”
