Loper joins Bipartisan Policy Center

A former top aide for Speaker John Boehner is heading to the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) to focus on budget issues.

Brett Loper, Boehner’s former deputy chief of staff, will join the group as a senior advisor and will work closely with the Economic Policy Project.

“Brett is an excellent addition to our cadre of thought leaders and policy experts,” said Bill Hoagland, BPC’s senior vice president

“His unique experience from the Speaker’s office and the Office of Management and Budget will prove particularly useful as we continue to address our national budget and fiscal issues.”

Loper is currently senior vice president of government affairs for American Express, and also has served as Republican staff director for the House Ways and Means Committee.

“As a leading member of the House Republican leadership staff, Brett has been involved in some of the toughest debates on Capitol Hill. His deep understanding of both Congress and policy will be invaluable,” said Michele Stockwell, BPC’s vice president of public policy.

In the coming months, BPC’s Economy Policy Project plans to release new analyses and updates on the debt limit.
