Rep. Ann Wagner (R-Mo.) met with House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) on Tuesday to discuss adding more women to the banking panel.
Currently, the powerful committee only has two women: Wagner and Rep. Mia Love (R-Utah). Democrats have six women on the panel.
“I think this committee needs more women,” Wagner said, adding that she raised the issue with Hensarling on Tuesday. “And I can’t give you her name just yet — but I think I have a recruit.”
She said that “putting a face and a family on real kitchen-table issues out there on the financial service sector is something I think women do best.”
“A lot of my male colleagues, and I love them to pieces, but they’ll speak in graphs and charts and numbers and instead we need to talk about that low- and middle-income investors and put a face on it,” she said. “I want to see more women.”
