DeMarco is replacing John Dalton who spent 12 years in the job.

From 2009 to 2014 DeMarco helmed the FHFA, which oversees mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that were taken over by the government during the 2008 financial crisis.

After leaving FHFA, DeMarco joined the Milken Institute’s Center for Financial Markets where he was a senior fellow-in-residence.
