Kudlow calls Pelosi ‘terrific,’ says Trump won’t force trade deal legislation
Chief White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow gave rare praise to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Tuesday, saying she’s been “terrific” on talks surrounding the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, an update to the North American Free Trade Agreement.
“I think Speaker Pelosi has been very accommodating on this,” Kudlow said at a CNBC event in Washington. “She’s been terrific.”
{mosads}Pelosi, he said, has been engaged and active on negotiating concerns over the trade deal.
Kudlow also said that the White House would not be sending implementing legislation for the deal to Congress until Pelosi gave her approval.
“We will submit formal legislation when she gives the green light on the vote,” he said.
On Monday, centrist Democrats sent a letter to the administration warning them not to submit the legislation, which would set up a 90-day countdown for a congressional vote.
