The Trump Organization announced Tuesday that more than 150 workers at the president’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla., would be furloughed during the coronavirus outbreak.

In a letter to state officials first reported by ABC News, the organization confirmed that 153 employees would be temporarily laid off due to a decline in business from the pandemic. None of the workers are unionized.

Officials for the Trump Organization did not immediately return a request for comment from The Hill.

The move comes after more than 500 furloughs at the nearby Trump National Doral Miami.

Mar-a-Lago ceased operations temporarily in March amid efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus in Florida, and has not yet announced when it will reopen.

The furloughed workers mostly worked in areas servicing guests, such as bartenders, kitchen workers, valet attendants and drivers, ABC News reported.

Unemployment claims have surged to record highs during the coronavirus outbreak as millions of workers have seen their jobs disappear due to the temporary closure of many nonessential businesses.
