Hershey to raise holiday chocolate prices
Hershey Co. will be raising the price of its chocolate in 2021 during the holiday season, the company’s CEO said Thursday.
CEO Michele Buck, in an interview with Bloomberg News, did not disclose how much the prices would rise, but said products affected will include Hershey’s kisses, chocolate bars and other holiday chocolate.
Prices for the chocolates have not been raised since 2014, according to the news outlet.
Buck said the company has told retailers about the price increase. Hershey sells its candy all across the country, with its base located in Hershey, Pa.
“Historically, retailers do pass it along,” Buck told Bloomberg. Around 10 percent of the company’s total sales will be affected by this decision.
Hershey’s net sales rose in the most recent quarter despite the pandemic, according to Bloomberg, bolstered by the sale of chocolate chips and other baking products, as well as candies like Twizzlers.
