Senate working on one-month ‘doc fix’

Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee are trying to work out a one-month Medicare “doc fix,” several congressional sources told The Hill. The goal is to pass a short-term patch, perhaps as early as Thursday, to the Sustainable Growth Rate formula by unanimous consent.

Medicare payments to physicians will be cut by 23 percent come Dec. 1 if Congress doesn’t act before then. Doctors’ groups have called for a 13-month fix to give lawmakers time to find a permanent solution.

The talks remain fluid.

“We are still working to get an agreement with Republicans,” a senior Democratic staffer said.
