Hoagland, a CIGNA vice president, also said he sees no chance of the supercommittee going beyond $1.5 trillion in real deficit reduction, although it may come up with less concrete recommendations on entitlements. He said that the supercommittee has to come up with something, though, because markets will be watching.

Both men agreed that the supercommittee has unprecedented power.
