ObamaCare advocates postpone marketing push to January

ObamaCare supporters are delaying their efforts to market the new law’s insurance exchanges until January, when they hope the health insurance exchange website will be fully functioning.

Families USA won’t begin advertising ObamaCare’s options until next year, according to The Wall Street Journal.

{mosads}WellPoint, a health insurer, is also putting their plans on hold, according to the WSJ report. CEO Joseph Swedish told the paper he doesn’t want to drive people to a broken website.

“I’ll be very candid. We have pulled back from marketing not knowing how to get people enrolled at the moment,” he said.

Originally, the groups had planned to promote the law in December in order to get people signed up and covered by Jan. 1.

“After the holidays, there are three months of enrollment,” and a new opportunity to get people enrolled, Families USA Executive Director Ron Pollack told the WSJ Thursday.

Pollack, a board member of the Enroll America coalition, said other groups are also pushing back their plans to sell the law to Americans.
