Tea Party group attacks O-Care in new ad

A conservative outside group is seeking to increase its already substantial ad effort against ObamaCare with a new TV spot.

Americans for Prosperity (AFP), which is backed by the Koch brothers, launched a 60-minute commercial depicting a woman named Emilie who is suffering from Lupus.

{mosads}In the video, she says ObamaCare has made her life “almost impossible” by canceling her old health plan. The ad will run on national cable outlets starting this week.

AFP President Tim Phillips sought to connect the ad buy to Tuesday night’s State of the Union address by President Obama.

“Tonight, President Obama will attempt to change the subject away from the millions of Americans who have been hurt by his ‘greatest’ achievement,” Phillips said in a statement.

“The American people deserve better than more broken promises.”

The latest AFP spot reflects themes expected to dominate attacks against Democrats in the 2014 midterm elections.

Obama’s false promise that people could keep their current health plans under ObamaCare is already a hallmark of Republican ads.

A spokesman would not confirm the cost of AFP’s ad buy but said it would be “significant.”

Previous purchases of airtime have cost the group millions of dollars.
