A Texas laboratory worker suspected of having contracted Ebola and then taking a cruise has tested negative for the deadly virus, Carnival Cruise Lines said on Sunday.
The cruise ship arrived in Galveston, Texas, on Sunday after being denied entry to Belize and Mexico due to the woman’s presence. She and her partner disembarked without trouble.
{mosads}The woman, who was not identified, works at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, which treated Liberian man Thomas Eric Duncan after he contracted the virus and returned to the United States.
Two nurses who treated Duncan have since been diagnosed with Ebola, and the lab worker’s presence on the ship of 4,000 raised new concerns about its possible spread.
She never showed any symptoms of an illness and had been isolated in her cabin.
Duncan died of Ebola earlier this month. A memorial service was held on Saturday.
