Health officials turn over 19,000 ObamaCare documents

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has turned over 19,000 pages of ObamaCare enrollment data to a House committee controlled by Republicans.

The administration provided the papers just before a high-profile hearing on the healthcare law. An agency official confirmed the documents have been given to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

{mosads}The panel had requested more details about how HHS has counted its healthcare sign-ups after a GOP-led investigation found that the agency had been misreporting its enrollment total.

The agency had been including nearly 400,000 dental plans in its tally, pushing the total number of ObamaCare enrollees past its initial goal of 7 million. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Administrator Marilyn Tavenner, who will testify at the committee’s hearing, has said the dental plans were mistakenly counted.

The documents given Monday night include details about medical enrollment as well as stand-alone dental plans.

“The documents date back to the earliest days of marketplace coverage and contain the data we received from issuers that were used to calculate premium tax credit payments,” the agency official said.

The paperwork is on top of about 135,000 pages already given to committee since October 2013, as well as more than 100 hours of interviews with current and former HHS employees.
