Priests for Life: Trump has broken no promises
“We consider the door to be fully open to Mr. Trump and his campaign, and he has a standing invitation to dialogue, both on the record and off the record, with the leaders of the pro-life movement,” he said.
The controversy comes at a time when Trump has been in hot water with abortion opponents. Last Wednesday, he said he would support “some sort of punishment” for women who have abortions should the procedure become illegal — a position that runs counter to decades of conservative doctrine on the issue.
The GOP front-runner walked back his comments the following day, after facing a torrent of criticism from both parties. This week, however, he told several TV outlets it was “not a wrong answer,” and noted that some people said his remarks were “terrific.”
“I have not spoken to Mr. Trump about this, but do look forward to doing so,” Pavone said of the comments.
