Dems accuse GOP of leaking docs from Planned Parenthood probe

House Democrats are accusing GOP lawmakers of leaking confidential information from their Planned Parenthood probe to anti-abortion-rights groups.

The six Democrats taking part in the GOP-led investigation are demanding a separate investigation into what they say is a “troubling possibility” that Republicans have colluded with those targeting Planned Parenthood.  

{mosads}”Inexplicably, anti-abortion activists have learned of confidential information provided to the Panel — raising the specter that the Republicans may be funneling confidential information back to those individuals and groups,” Democrats wrote in a letter Tuesday to the committee’s chairwoman, Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.).

The letter is led by Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), the ranking member on the Planned Parenthood investigative panel. The panel was formed last fall after anti-abortion-rights leaders claimed Planned Parenthood was illegally profiting from fetal tissue donations.

The women’s health group has strongly denied the allegations, and has been cleared of any wrongdoing by more than a dozen states.

Specifically, Democrats said anti-abortion-rights groups have obtained the names and contact information of people being investigated “despite such information not being public.”

The letter comes about one week after Democrats blasted Blackburn for providing her private letters to abortion doctors to be screened on Fox News — including private information like addresses.

Schakowsky and other Democrats have repeatedly called for sensitivity during the Planned Parenthood investigation, citing frequent threats made to abortion doctors and an uptick in violence nationally against clinics.
