Dems target Republicans with attack ads ahead of ObamaCare repeal vote

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is targeting 10 vulnerable House Republicans ahead of the chamber’s latest vote to repeal healthcare reform. 

The DCCC is launching paid telephone calls urging voters to oppose lawmakers who vote to “deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions, raise prescription drug costs, [and] kick kids off their parents’ healthcare before they turn 26.”

Republican leadership scheduled Thursday’s vote to give conservative freshman members a chance to officially oppose the Affordable Care Act. 

{mosads}It will be the 37th time the lower chamber has voted to repeal, defund or dismantle the law and the third full repeal vote in the last two Congresses.

The DCCC call highlights ObamaCare’s most popular provisions, showing that Democratic campaign officials are prepared to run toward, not away from, the divisive law as the 2014 campaign season begins. 

Democrats have acknowledged they are worried the implementation of the law could cause them problems in next year’s elections. Both parties have criticized the Obama administration’s approach to implementing the act.

The current set of DCCC calls will take place Wednesday and Thursday.

They will target GOP Reps. Chris Gibson (N.Y.), Michael Grimm (N.Y.), Joe Heck (Nev.), Frank LoBiondo (N.J.), Gary Miller (Calif.), Steve Pearce (N.M.), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (Fla.), Jon Runyan (N.J.), David Valadao (Calif.), and Bill Young (Fla.).
