Trump praises ‘wonderful’ ObamaCare repeal, replace legislation

President Trump early Tuesday praised the newly released House Republicans’ legislation to repeal and replace ObamaCare, calling it “wonderful.”

“Our wonderful new Healthcare Bill is now out for review and negotiation. ObamaCare is a complete and total disaster – is imploding fast!” he tweeted.

The White House late Monday stopped short of fully endorsing the proposal.

{mosads}White House press secretary Sean Spicer said the legislation’s release “marks an important step toward restoring healthcare choices and affordability back to the American people.”

“President Trump looks forward to working with both chambers of Congress to repeal and replace ObamaCare,” Spicer said.

The two bills dismantle ObamaCare’s subsidies to help people buy coverage, expansion of Medicaid, taxes and mandates for people to have insurance. The legislation also dramatically restructures the Medicaid program by capping federal payments.

Republicans are proposing a new system centered on a tax credit to help people buy health insurance.

Two House committees — Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means — are scheduled to vote on the legislation on Wednesday. The full House is expected to follow within several weeks.
