Portman: ObamaCare repeal-only bill would ‘add to more uncertainty’

Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) on Tuesday expressed concern over the idea of a repeal-only healthcare bill.
“I have to look and see what the so-called repeal bill entails, but if it is a bill that simply repeals, I believe that will add to more uncertainty,” Portman told reporters. “And the potential for Ohioans to pay even higher premiums, higher deductibles.”
Portman said he would look for an analysis from the Congressional Budget Office on a bill repealing ObamaCare.

“So, I’ll take a look at it, but I’m concerned about something that would simply repeal and its impact on costs and choices and healthcare.”
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) late Monday said the Senate would try to separate ObamaCare repeal and replacement after the Senate’s current healthcare bill collapsed.
“In the coming days, the Senate will vote to take up the House bill with the first amendment in order being what a majority of the Senate has already supported in 2015 and that was vetoed by then-President Obama: a repeal of Obamacare with a two-year delay to provide for a stable transition period,” McConnell said in a statement.
President Trump on Monday called for Republicans to repeal ObamaCare now and then work on a replacement plan, adding Democrats would “join in.”
