Former Fox News host meets with Trump about opioid epidemic

Former Fox News host Eric Bolling, whose son died of an accidental overdose, met with President Trump on Tuesday to discuss the opioid epidemic, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bolling told the outlet that he met with Trump and White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, who has been tasked with leading the White House’s response to the opioid epidemic.

“They’re going to use me to help develop some of these awareness initiatives,” Bolling told the magazine after the meeting.

Bolling revealed in October that his son, Eric Chase, died of an accidental overdose that included opioids. He was 19.

Bolling was fired from Fox News over sexual harassment allegations, hours before his son was found dead.

Last October, Trump declared the opioid epidemic a national public health emergency. While some praised Trump’s decision, others worried it did not do enough to free up the necessary resources needed to fight the epidemic.
