Wendy Vitter, President Trump’s judicial nominee for the eastern Louisiana U.S. District Court, is being targeted by Planned Parenthood as an anti-abortion extremist who should not be confirmed.

In a five-figure digital ad campaign running nationally on Facebook and Twitter, Planned Parenthood is urging supporters to tell their senators to vote against her confirmation.

“Wendy Vitter advocates for an extreme, anti-abortion agenda, making her unfit for a lifetime seat on the federal bench. We must stop her nomination!” reads a Facebook ad posted by the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

Vitter, who faces a confirmation hearing this week in the Senate, has come under fire by liberal groups for speaking at anti-abortion events and rallies.

“Wendy Vitter is dangerous, untrustworthy, and unfit for a lifetime appointment as a federal judge. Vitter’s record of opposing women’s health and rights is far outside the mainstream,” Dana Singiser, vice president of public policy and government affairs for Planned Parenthood, said in a statement.

“The bottom line is that Vitter can’t be trusted to be unbiased or fair-minded.”

Planned Parenthood will also target supporters in Alaska, Maine and Nevada.

Democrats have also accused Vitter of failing to disclose multiple items to the Senate Judiciary Committee, including that she moderated a panel on the alleged dangers of abortion.

Anti-abortion groups and Republicans, however, have praised Vitter’s nomination.

The Judicial Crisis Network, an organization that works to get Trump’s judicial nominees confirmed, called the criticisms of Vitter “baseless.”

Vitter is the wife of former Sen. David Vitter (R-La.). Her hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee is slated for Wednesday.
