Nine coronavirus deaths now reported in Washington state

Washington state health officials reported three more deaths from the coronavirus Wednesday, increasing the number of fatalities to nine.

In all, state officials have confirmed 27 cases of the coronavirus, including the deaths.

Most of those who have died were elderly or had underlying health conditions.

Several were residents of Life Care Center, a nursing home in Kirkland, Wash.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Tuesday 60 cases of the coronavirus have been detected in the U.S.

Most of those cases are in Washington state and California, where the virus is spreading in some communities.
