AIPAC says two attendees of conference tested positive for coronavirus

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) said Friday that two people who attended its conference this week have tested positive for the coronavirus.

AIPAC said the two attendees were from New York and that the group is in touch with the relevant health department regarding the cases.

“We have confirmed that at least two Policy Conference attendees from New York have tested positive for the Coronavirus,” AIPAC said in an email to conference attendees, participants, speakers, administration and Hill offices.

“We have continued to remain in constant communication with the Westchester County Health Department and the DC Health Department which is coordinating with the New York Health Department, and national health authorities,” the email read.

The announcement came a day after AIPAC warned that conference attendees from New York were potentially in contact prior to the conference with an individual who contracted the coronavirus.

The group urged conference-goers to consult their health care providers if they feel ill, and advised anyone who tests positive for the coronavirus to inform their local health authorities.

There have been 275 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the U.S. thus far, including 19 in Westchester County, N.Y.
