CDC warns travelers to avoid Aruba
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has added Aruba to the list of places for travelers to avoid amid a rise in COVID-19 infections.
The Caribbean island nation, which is a popular tourist destination for U.S. citizens, was put at the CDC’s highest coronavirus risk level, level four, which means they have more than 500 cases per 100,000 citizens.
The CDC says to avoid places that are at a level four risk assessment and to be fully vaccinated if you do go.
More than 80 countries are at a level four coronavirus risk assessment amid a spike in cases across the globe from the omicron variant.
Some of the most popular places for Americans to travel, including the United Kingdom, France, Norway, Iceland and Spain, are included on the list.
Many countries have implemented mask and coronavirus vaccine mandates in order to combat the rise in infections.
Only about 40 destinations are at the CDC’s lowest risk rating for COVID-19, including Taiwan, India, Hong Kong and Fiji.
