A European Union health agency is telling fans to wear masks to the Euro 2020 games, according to a Reuters report.
The 2021 UEFA European Championship, considered one of the most prestigious soccer tournaments after the World Cup, will have its first game Friday after its tournament was postponed last year due to COVID-19.
The 11 countries hosting tournaments will have varying occupancy limits, with the stadium in Munich aiming to have an occupancy of about 22 percent, according to Reuters.
Budapest aims to be at full capacity with “strict entry requirements” for those attending, the report said. Most cities anticipate stadium capacities between 25 and 50 percent.
According to the Reuters report, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) also issued guidance in their report telling fans to wear masks and for stadiums to limit to 50 percent capacity.
The guidance comes amid a worldwide attempt to avoid increased COVID-19 exposure as larger events begin to resume with modifications.
A spokesperson for the ECDC was not immediately available for comment.
