Tuesday’s global agenda: Kerry gets State

{mosads}The Truman National Security Project and the Center for National Policy host a panel of experts this morning to discuss President Obama’s proposed national-security team: Chuck Hagel for Defense, John Brennan at the CIA and John Kerry at State.

The Center for Global Development and Foreign Policy magazine award the 2012 Commitment to Development “Ideas in Action” Award to former Sen. Dick Lugar (R-Ind.) this afternoon. 

And the Council on Foreign Relations hosts a conversation with former secretary of State George Shultz this evening starting at 6:30 p.m. Watch it live here.

Lobbying and regulations

The State Department announced that the first meeting of the Environmental Affairs Council and the  Environmental Cooperation Commission established as part of negotiations leading up to the free trade agreement with South Korea will be held Feb. 14.

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman is lobbying for Saudi Arabia‘s “King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy” (KACARE).

Tourism Ireland Limited is using an in-house lobbyist to work on issues regarding “distribution of tourism literature for the promotion of tourism to the the island of Ireland. Activities include calling travel agents, contacting groups with a view to promoting trips to Ireland and contact with travel editors of newspapers and magazines.”
