Kerry rips Congress for withholding aid to Egypt

Lawmakers – including House Appropriations foreign aid panel chairwoman Kay Granger (R-Texas) and former House Foreign Affairs Committee chairwoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) – blocked the money out of concerns with Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood government. But Kerry said Egypt has held democratic elections and respected its peace treaty with Israel, and should be supported.
