37 killed in Baghdad attacks targeting Christians

At least 37 people were killed in separate bombing attacks in Baghdad that targeted Christians on Christmas Day.

Two bombs exploded in an outdoor market in a Christian section of the city, before a third bomb detonated in a car near a church. The third bomb claimed at least 26 lives and wounded another 38, according to an Associated Press report.

{mosads}No immediate claims of responsibility were taken for the attacks, but Iraq’s Christian minority has been targeted by al Qaeda and other militant groups.

The Associated Press said the latest attacks brought the number of people killed in Iraq this month to 441. The United Nations estimates that more than 8,000 people have been killed there since the beginning of the year.
