National Security Adviser Susan Rice on Sunday defended her actions in the aftermath of the 2012 Benghazi attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Libya, saying she did not intentionally mislead the American people.
{mosads}Rice is one of several officials in the Obama administration whom Republicans accused of covering up what they say was a terrorist attack by al Qaeda on Sept. 11, 2012, in Benghazi.
In a rare interview about Benghazi, Rice said she gave the “best information” she had at the time.
“The information which I provided to you is what we had at the moment,” she said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “That’s been well validated.”
“That information turned out, in some respects, not to be 100 percent correct,” she added. “But the notion that I, or anyone else in the administration, misled the American people is patently false.”
Rice also promised the Obama administration would track down those responsible.
“We will get the perpetrators,” Rice said. “We will stay on it until it gets done. The United States stays on the case.”
