Trump: UN ‘just a club for people to get together, talk’

President-elect Donald Trump criticized the United Nations on Monday, claiming it has “such great potential” that it’s not meeting.

In a Monday afternoon tweet, Trump said the U.N. “is just a club for people to get together, talk and have a good time.”

Trump has already implied he will bring change to the U.N. once he’s president. In a tweet last week, Trump warned that “things will be different” for the U.N. after he’s sworn into office.

His comments come on the heels of the U.N. Security Council’s 14-0 vote Friday to pass a resolution demanding an end to Israeli settlement building in occupied territories.

{mosads}Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pressured the Obama administration to veto the resolution, but the U.S. abstained from the vote, allowing the resolution to pass.

Israel’s ambassador to the United States told CNN on Monday that the country has “evidence” that the Obama administration colluded with the Security Council to pass the resolution.

He said officials plan to share the evidence with the president-elect.

“We will present this evidence to the new administration through the appropriate channels, and if they want to share it with the American people they are welcome to do it,” Ambassador Ron Dermer told CNN on Monday.
