{mosads}Russian Sen. Alexey Pushkov took to Twitter to call Huntsman a harsh critic of the Kremlin in the past, highlighting his recent tenure as the chairman of a foreign policy think-tank the Atlantic Council.
“The candidacy of the U.S. envoy to Moscow speaks volumes,” Pushkov wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.
“Huntsman — the head of the Atlantic Council, where harsh criticism of Russia has become the norm. Definitely not a dove,” he added.
On Wednesday Huntsman reportedly accepted Trump’s offer to become the U.S. ambassador to Russia.
Huntsman served as a U.S. envoy to China under the Obama administration and ran for president in 2012.
