Polish president to talk energy security with Trump

Polish President Andrzej Duda says he will discuss security, energy and economic cooperation with President Trump during the G-20 summit, according to The Associated Press.

Duda told TVN24 that the talks will not just focus on “some general talk about world security,” but also specifically touch on energy security for the region.

Poland and other eastern European nations remain dependent on Russia for oil and gas.

{mosads}Trump will meet with regional leaders at the Three Seas Initiative on Thursday in Warsaw. The meeting is meant to foster greater energy independence from Moscow, while bolstering the still developing economies of members, largely former communist nations under the Soviet Union.

Poland recently received its first energy shipment of liquefied natural gas from the U.S., marking the beginning of its push for energy independence.
