British Prime Minister Theresa May hopes the U.S. will “find a way to come back into the Paris Agreement” and says she made clear to President Trump that she was let down by his decision to withdraw from the landmark climate deal.

“I was clear to President Trump how disappointed the U.K. was that the United States had decided to pull out of the Paris Agreement and also clear that I hope that they will be able to find a way to come back into the Paris Agreement,” May told the BBC in an interview published Friday. “I think that’s important for us globally.”

May’s comments come as leaders from the world’s largest economic powers, including May and Trump, gather in Hamburg, Germany, for the annual Group of 20 summit.

May told the BBC she hopes Trump will heed the “collective message” of the G-20 to reconsider his decision to pull out of the global climate change agreement, which enjoys broad international support.

Trump announced in June the U.S. would withdraw from the deal, agreed to under the Obama administration, saying it would hurt the country’s economy and stifle job growth.

But the president is certain to face criticism for that decision during the G-20, particularly from European leaders, who were angered by the withdrawal.
