Palestinian president released from hospital
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was released from a hospital in Ramallah more than a week after he was admitted for a lung infection, Reuters reported.
“Thank God I am leaving the hospital in good health and I will return to work tomorrow,” Abbas told reporters, according to the news service.
When Abbas was admitted to the hospital last Sunday, one Palestinian official said he was experiencing complications from an ear surgery he underwent earlier in the month.

A source at the al-Istishari hospital, however, told Reuters at the time that the president’s latest stay in the hospital was not linked to his ear surgery.
It was later reported that Abbas was being treated for pneumonia.
He was admitted to the hospital amid high tensions between Palestine and Israel following protests at the Gaza border during which more than 60 Palestinians were killed by the Israeli military.
Abbas was previously hospitalized for medical checks in February during a trip to address the United Nations Security Council.
