British far-right politician Nigel Farage was reportedly stuck aboard his touring Brexit bus briefly on Wednesday after several protesters carrying milkshakes appeared nearby, apparently planning to toss the drinks on Farage.

Kent Live reported that Farage briefly remained on the bus while protesters surrounded it, before departing the vehicle flanked by security personnel to greet supporters.

Formerly a member of the pro-Brexit UKIP party, Farage has been touring the U.K. in recent weeks aboard a large bus advertising his campaign for the country to leave the European Union as a member of the now-mainstream Brexit Party.{mosads}

Kent Live reported that Farage only stepped a meter away from the bus and chatted to some supporters before getting back on “very quickly.” The outlet reported that Farage had “stopped off and walked down the high street” at other stops on the tour.

Farage’s driver Michael Botton told Kent Live that Farage’s decision to remain on the bus was directly linked to the protesters after the politician was doused with the dairy beverage on Monday by a protester. The protester was charged Tuesday with common assault and criminal damage for throwing the milkshake.

“There are a couple of guys standing over there with milkshakes, they were going to throw them over him. But the police are there, we’ve spotted them and now Nigel isn’t getting off the bus,” Farage’s driver told the outlet.

Farage tweeted after Monday’s incident that so-called Remainers, or those who oppose the U.K. leaving the European Union, were making his political campaigning “impossible.”

“Sadly some remainers have become radicalised, to the extent that normal campaigning is becoming impossible,” Farage tweeted.

“For a civilised democracy to work you need the losers consent, politicians not accepting the [Brexit] referendum result have led us to this,” he added.

Farage is one of several far-right British figures to be hit with milkshakes in recent weeks. Several have been thrown at UKIP candidate Carl Benjamin, and anti-Muslim activist Tommy Robinson was also hit with one.
