Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) said Vice President Harris is aligned with President Biden on his approach to Israel, saying they both strongly support the U.S. ally while also noting their willingness to criticize its leader when they deem him an obstacle to peace.
Moulton defended the Harris campaign when asked in an interview on NewsNation’s “The Hill Sunday” about pro-Palestinian protesters labeling the party’s nominee as “Killer Kamala.”
“Yes, I am,” Moulton said when asked whether he’s comfortable with what he’s seeing from her campaign on Israel. “She’s basically continuing the policy of the Biden administration.”
“The Biden administration has been incredibly supportive of Israel, but has also been willing to criticize Prime Minister Netanyahu when the Biden administration feels that the Netanyahu government is not doing enough to make sure that there is a long-term peaceful solution to this conflict,” Moulton continued. “Which, by the way, are the same sentiments you hear echoed by many officials in the [Israeli military], in Israeli intelligence right now.”
Moulton, a former Marine Corps officer, said Harris and Biden both see de-escalation as a priority.
“I’m someone who absolutely wants to see an end of this war, but I also want to see Israel win and defeat Hamas,” Moulton said.
“I think the Harris administration wants to continue that policy from the United States, standing by our ally, Israel, but also bringing an end to this conflict and ensuring that it doesn’t develop into a wider war in the Middle East that could draw in U.S. troops,” Moulton said.
Harris has recently begun to shut down pro-Palestinian protesters at her rallies. At an event in Detroit, Mich., last week, Harris told protesters, “If you want Donald Trump to win, then say that. Otherwise, I’m speaking,” to applause from her supporters.
