Vice President Kamala Harris wrapped up her trip to France by lying flowers at a memorial in Paris that honors the 130 people killed in a 2015 ISIS attack, according to The Associated Press.
Harris visited Le Carillon bar, which was one of the several nightlife spots that was attacked by gunmen and suicide bombers six years ago, reports the AP.
Harris — alongside her husband, Doug Emhoff — laid a bouquet of flowers to commemorate the victims. She also went inside the bar and spoke to people there.
The 2015 attack in Paris was the deadliest act of violence in France since WWII, and one of the worst terrorist attacks on the Western World, notes the AP.
The attack was carried out by nine gunmen and suicide bombers who all struck within minutes of each other, targeting those in soccer stadiums, cafes and a concert hall, which alone accounted for 90 of the fatalities.
The homage paid to the victims this year coincides with the trial of 20 men who are accused of executing the violence in France that day, the AP reported. The commemoration was one of several that was held by officials in France to memorialize the victims of the bloodshed.
Harris had gone to France to patch up the wounds the country sustained during a spat over a submarine deal in September.
