Brazil’s Bolsonaro hospitalized in search for cause of chronic hiccups
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was hospitalized after experiencing a chronic case of hiccups, Reuters reported on Wednesday.
Brazilian media outlet Globo reported that Bolsonaro was admitted to the medical facility to undergo testing after experiencing abdominal pains earlier in the day.
The president’s office told news outlets that he was hospitalized due to a chronic case of hiccups, adding that he’s expected to be under medical observation for the next one to two days at a military hospital, according to Reuters.
“He is feeling good and doing well,” Bolsonaro’s office said.
Bolsonaro, 66, has seen a couple of health scares in the past years.
In 2018, Bolsonaro was seriously injured after being stabbed at a rally during his campaign run and last July he tested positive for COVID-19, though fully recovered from his symptoms.
