Brazil’s Bolsonaro leaves hospital
Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has left the hospital after spending four days undergoing medical treatment, Reuters reported on Sunday.
Bolsonaro said that he will return to his presidential duties on Monday, noting that medical officials told him that he’ll have to undergo a diet due to his condition.
The president joked that he hopes to eat barbecued ribs in the next 10 days, according to Reuters.
“I’ll try to follow, but I’m not an example to anyone when it comes to diet,” Bolsonaro said.
Bolsonaro was taken to the hospital due to a chronic case of hiccups and abdominal pain, Reuters reported.
Bolsonaro, 66, has had a couple of health scares in recent years.
The Brazilian president was seriously injured in 2018 after being stabbed at a rally during his campaign run, and last July he tested positive for COVID-19, though he fully recovered from his symptoms,
Health officials noted that Bolsonaro will still remain under observation as an outpatient, Reuters noted.
