Singapore reported two coronavirus-related deaths on Saturday, the first deaths in the city-state from COVID-19.
Singapore’s health ministry said that the deceased were a 75-year-old Singaporean woman and a 64-year-old Indonesian man, Reuters reports.
The virus first popped up on the island in January, but while the illness has since evolved into a global pandemic, Singapore has been successful in warding off a widespread outbreak.
Singapore currently has 385 confirmed cases, according to John Hopkins University.
Worldwide, there have been more than 275,000 confirmed cases of the virus and over 11,000 deaths.
