Authorities catch Italian mafia fugitive after finding his YouTube cooking channel

Italian authorities say they captured a mafia fugitive on the run for seven years after police tracked him through a YouTube cooking channel he started with his wife.

Marc Feren Claude Biart was arrested last week in the town of Boca Chica in the Dominican Republic, where he has been hiding for the last five years, NBC News reported Wednesday.

Biart, who previously worked at a restaurant in Italy, reportedly kept a low profile in the Caribbean, avoiding other Italian nationals in the community.

Even on the YouTube cooking channel, Biart doesn’t show his face, but police say his body tattoos gave him away.

Italian police believe the 53-year-old is a connected member of a notorious European mob called the Ndrangheta crime syndicate, according to NBC News. Biart had been wanted by authorities since 2014 for allegedly trafficking cocaine in the Netherlands.

Biart was extradited to Italy and landed in Milan on Monday. He remains in custody.

The YouTube channel has been taken down.
