Queen Elizabeth II cancels virtual appointments after positive COVID-19 test
Officials close to Queen Elizabeth II announced on Tuesday that she had canceled her virtual appointments for the day as she deals with “mild” COVID-19 symptoms.
“As Her Majesty is still experiencing mild cold-like symptoms she has decided not to undertake her planned virtual engagements today, but will continue with light duties,” Buckingham Palace said, according to CNN.
A source close to the palace told the network that the queen’s ability to participate in other scheduled engagements will be reassessed later this week.
On Sunday, officials said that she had contracted the virus and was experiencing cold-like symptoms.
The queen, who is 95, has reportedly continued to carry out her light duties such as reading correspondence despite her COVID-19 diagnosis.
Other members of the royal family, including Prince Charles and the queen’s daughter-in-law, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, also tested positive for the virus recently.
Charles has returned to his duties since contracting the virus.
