Russia sending plane for expelled officials: report

Russia’s government is sending an aircraft to bring home the 35 Russian officials the U.S. is expelling, the Daily Mail reported Friday.

President Obama set a Sunday deadline for the operatives to leave as part of a series of retaliatory measures against Russia for interfering in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

{mosads}“For diplomats and their families to leave the United States, an aircraft of the Rossiya Special Flight Squadron of the Russian Presidential Property Management Directorate will be send to the U.S.,” Russia said in a statement, according to the Mail.

Obama on Thursday unveiled a series of measures the U.S. is taking after the intelligence community determined that Russia interfered in the U.S. election.

In addition to expelling the officials and shuttering Russian compounds in New York and Maryland, the measures include a slate of economic sanctions, diplomatic censure, public “naming and shaming,” and the possibility of covert cyber actions.

A CIA assessment reportedly concluded Russia interfered in the election specifically to help President-elect Donald Trump win.

Russia has denied any involvement, and Trump has insisted there’s no evidence of interference.
