Putin denies meddling in US, Europe elections

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday denied interfering in last year’s U.S. election or any other outside elections.

“We never interfere in the political life and political processes of other countries and we don’t want anybody interfering in our political life and foreign policy processes,” Putin said in Germany, according to Reuters.

Putin was responding to a question about the U.S. intelligence community’s conclusion that Moscow interfered in last year’s U.S. election specifically to help President Trump win.

{mosads}He also faced questions about potential Russian interference in September’s German elections.

Putin said foreign powers have tried tampering with Russian politics multiple times over recent years.

Trump and Putin will speak by phone Tuesday afternoon, the White House said Monday.

The FBI as well as House and Senate committees are investigating Russian election interference, including possible collusion between Russian officials and members of Trump’s campaign.

The House Intelligence Panel has invited FBI Director James Comey and National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers to appear before the panel Tuesday as part of its probe into Russia’s actions.

The Senate Intelligence Committee, which has its own investigation of the matter, reportedly brought on two additional staffers last week.
