ISIS threatens attacks in US over Trump’s Jerusalem decision

The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) on Thursday reportedly posted messages vowing attacks in the U.S. in response to President Trump’s announcement to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Reuters reported that the terrorist group said in a Telegram Messenger post that it planned to conduct attacks and included photos of New York City’s Times Square and a bomb.

“We will do more ops in your land, until the final hour and we will burn you with the flames of war which you started in Iraq, Yemen, Libya and Syria and Afghan. Just you wait,” the message reads, according to the news service.

{mosads}“The recognition of your dog ‘Trump’ (sic) Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will make us recognize explosives as the capital of your country.”

Trump last week announced that the U.S. would officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and said he would put plans in motion to move the U.S. Embassy there from Tel Aviv. The president, however, signed a six-month waiver putting the embassy move on hold.

Earlier this week, the 27-year-old suspect in an attempted suicide bombing in Manhattan claimed he conducted the attack for ISIS, according to the Justice Department.

Akayed Ullah, a lawful permanent resident originally from Bangladesh, allegedly tried to detonate a pipe bomb in a passageway near New York City’s Port Authority terminal, injuring himself and three other individuals.

The Iraqi government last week announced that all of its territory had been freed from ISIS control. The group since 2014 had used the northern city of Mosul as its de-facto stronghold, but was driven out of the city in July following operations that began in October of 2016.
