Obama: World partners want TPP
President Obama, speaking at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit on Sunday, said leaders from the region want to move forward with the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal.
{mosads}”Our partners made clear they want to move forward with TPP,” Obama said at a press conference in Peru.
“They would like to move forward with the United States.”
But the 12-country trade deal faces an uncertain future in the United States, given that President-elect Donald Trump campaigned strongly against it.
He’s called it a “terrible deal” and says it would hurt the U.S. economy by moving American jobs to countries with cheaper labor.
