Protester interrupts Cheney speech

A protester interrupted a speech from former Vice President Dick Cheney opposing the nuclear deal with Iran on Tuesday morning.

About 15 minutes into Cheney’s remarks at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), an unidentified protester jumped up, started yelling and appeared to unfurl a flag.

“Dick Cheney is a war criminal,” the woman yelled.

{mosads}“No more war mongering,” she added. “We want peace. We want peace.”

The protester was quickly booed by members of the audience.

“Get out of here!” one person yelled.

She was escorted out of the room after a brief scuffle, during which a member of the audience unsuccessfully tried to wrench away her flag.

The protester appeared to be aligned with the activist group CodePink, which was protesting Cheney outside AEI earlier on Tuesday morning.

Cheney’s remarks at the conservative think tank came ahead of the congressional vote on the multinational nuclear accord. Cheney warned that the agreement was a historical folly and would only put the U.S. and its international allies at greater risk of danger.
